If you didn’t know it, our offices are located in South Texas. McAllen, Texas to be more specific. Now if your from Texas, any part really, you know that sports are especially important here.
More direct, Football is important in Texas. (Capitalized the F in Football on purpose, just in case any of the readers happen to be from around these parts….)
It sounds like I’m joking, and maybe I am a little, but I’m also getting to a serious point. That point is that here in Texas and in many other parts of the country, high school sports are taken in very high regard. There can be an awful lot at stake for many players and even the coaches, so of course this leaves many or the sports directors and coaches open as targets.
It can start simply enough. Perhaps a player or a player’s parent feels they or their child is not getting enough time on the field. Or they are being played in the wrong position, or maybe they just don’t like the coach. The reason really doesn’t matter. What does matter is that more and more these grudges are being taken online as anonymous, malicious attacks on the coach’s character. Even sometimes it can result in out and out slander with lies created to ruin a coach and his career.
Sounds ominous, right? But it’s happening, online, every day. It can happen to coaches and sporting directors. Cheer leading teachers and school administrators. If you are in the public eye, you can be attacked online.
If you are a sports coach that has been unfairly attacked online and need help managing your internet reputation, please give our office a call. We can help. Our office number is 800-818-6286.
